He travelled in the desert for six months.

He has worked here for a year.
He has worked here since this time last year.
B during和for
during the Middle Ages在中世纪
during 1941在1941年中
during the summer(of that year)在(那一年的)夏季during his childhood在他的童年时代
during my holidays在我度假期间
It rained all Monday but stopped raining during the night.
He was ill for a week, and during that week he ate nothing.
I went there/I hired a car/I rented a house for my holidays/for the sum-mer.
He asked for£5.

92 表示时间的介词to,till/until,
after和afterwards(副词)
?
A to和till/until
可以用from…to或 from…till/until结构:
They worked from five to ten/from five till ten.
(注意勿与at five to ten混淆,后者意为9点55分。)
Let’s start now and work till dark.
We didn’t get home till 2 a.m.
He usually pays me on Friday but last week he didn’t pay me till the fol-lowing Monday.
till/until也常用做时间连词:
We’ll stay here till it stops raining.
Go on till you come to the level crossing.
注意:如果省略了 you come to,那么就要由 to来代替till:
Go on to the level crossing.
B after, afterwards(副词)
Don’t bathe immediately atrer a meal/after eating.
Don’t have a meal and bathe immediately after it.
Don’t have a meal and bathe immediately afterwards.
They bathed and afterwards played game/played games afterwards./ They bathed and then played games.
afterwards可以位于句首或句末并且可以由soon,immediate- ly,not long等修饰:
Soon afterwards we got a letter.
We got a letter not long afterwards.
After he had tuned the piano it sounded quite different.

get there/back到那里/回来(这里 there和 back是副词)
C home
It took us an hour to get home.
They went home by bus.
